Discover Your Animal Familiar

Discover your personal animal familiar and open yourself to a new way of working alongside the animal kingdom in your magical practice. More than simple elements to be added to spells, animals are allies who can teach any witch about energy, life force, and different kinds of consciousness. For centuries, witches have been linked with familiars such as black cats; however, the world of animal familiars is not limited to felines. Dogs, birds, rodents, reptiles, and even the guppies in your aquarium can be your special companions and magical co-creators. And the magic isn't limited to domestic animals either, you'll learn all about wild animals, farm animals, animal spirits and more!

Learn to Commune with Your Familiar and Much More!

One of the most magical parts of having an animal familiar is building a relationship with them. Like any good friend, developing that relationship means talking, sharing, and getting to know one another. Communing means communicating, but it also means something more. You can communicate with your dog by giving them commands to roll over, and they can bark to communicate that the delivery person is dropping off a package, but that isn’t communing. Communing is something more immersive.

More Than a Hundred Spells, Rituals, and Recipes

You’ll find spells to attract, protect, and bond with your familiar. You’ll learn magical ways to calm your familiar and even rituals to help your familiar transition at the end of life. You’ll access ways to talk to your familiar and build psychic links to help you understand them. You’ll discover ways to invite your familiar to participate in your magical rituals, to exchange spiritual energy with your familiar, and even learn how to shapeshift into animal form.

  • Madame Pamita has given us a book that delves into what is, and what is not, an animal familiar. From an historical viewpoint all the way to our current disconnect with animals, she gently teaches us how to find, and commune with, our animal familiar.

Included are spells and recipes for many different needs, sections on how to use animal offerings, and how to exchange energy with your familiar. An in-depth look on how to benefit and learn from having an animal familiar of your own, I highly recommend A Witchs Guide to Animal Familiars to anyone who wishes to experience the joy and challenges of working with a familiar, whether wild or domesticated. I truly believe this book will take your magickal practice to the next level.

  • Madame Pamita offers readers the gift of better acquainting ourselves with the other-than-human beings with whom we share the planet. This love letter to the animal - and insect - realms offers so much to everyone -- not only those building a magical practice: animal history, behavior, and lore; traditional healing ways, regional superstitions, and folk beliefs; and fairy tales and mythology, not to mention many creative magical rituals. For anyone longing for a loving bond with nature, here you will find a path to that sacred place, strewn with beauty, to inspire a truly enchanting connection with the natural world.

  • “Madame Pamita invites you to talk with the animals, walk with the animals, and commune with them. Animal familiars are a blessing, and Pamita addresses them as such. She’ll teach you how to curate relationships with your familiars and even how to call on them for assistance. She offers warm advice and skillful spells to help your bond with your familiar become as easy as breathing.”

Melissa Cynova, author of Kitchen Table Tarot and co-host of Cardslingers Coast to Coast podcast

  • “This book not only helps you deepen your connection to your animal companion but also teaches you how to continue that development long past the final page. With heartfelt anecdotes and her trademark sense of humor, Madame Pamita delivers exactly what you need to know in order to empower your relationship with your animal familiar!”

Devin Hunter, author of Modern Witch: Spells, Recipes, and Workings

  • “Bravo, Madame Pamita! Few, if any, books have deep-dived into the subject of the acquisition, role, living power, and integrative magical practices of the time-honored role of the familiar in the witch’s craft the way you have. This is no mere book of animal symbology. No, this is an apprenticeship-style grimoire of a rarely detailed component of the witch’s way.”

Sample Spell: Call a Wandering Familiar Home

If your familiar has gone for a wander, either out of their cage or out of the house entirely, use this simple spell to help them find their way back quickly and safely.

What you will need:

  • Two magnets or naturally magnetic lodestones
  • Two chime candles, birthday candles, or small tapers
  • Two saucers or small dishes
  • Matches
  • Two small food treats that your familiar enjoys
  • Some magnetic sand or iron filings

1. Hold the magnets or lodestones in your hands so that they are touching one another.

2. Recite the following incantation as you send a psychic message, envisioning your familiar back in their home:

Little adventurer, wandering friend,
The time for travel has come to an end.
Your rambles will soon be in the past,
And safe at home you will be at last.

3. Affix a candle to each saucer by melting the bottom of the candle slightly and pressing it onto the dish.

4. Place one magnet or lodestone and one treat on each saucer.

5. Place one prepared saucer near your familiar’s home, bed, or food dish and one at your front door.

6. Recite the incantation above as you light each candle.

7. If needed, you can repeat this spell once a day until your familiar returns.

8. When your familiar reappears, give them the treats and “feed” your magnets or lodestones with a pinch of magnetic sand to thank them for helping bring your familiar back safely.

9. Keep the magnets or lodestones, and reuse them in this spell any time you need to call your familiar back to the nest.
